We can do this! Staying home saves lives.

It’s simple math: Staying home saves lives!
Scientists measure the intensity of an infectious disease by its reproduction number (or R0, pronounced “r naught”), which just means the average number of people one sick person will infect. The R0 for COVID-19 is estimated at 2.5. If Alaskans follow social distancing guidelines and reduce their exposure by 75%, then over the course of 30 days one infected person will only infect 2.5 other people. But if there’s no reduction in social exposure, over 30 days that one infected person could infect 406 other people!
